Getting married

Banns of marriage and Common Licence

The usual legal formalities for a church wedding include announcing your wedding on three Sundays leading up to the day. At a time when not all churches are having Sunday services in the building, you may have to obtain a Common Licence instead of having the banns read. Click here for a brief guide.

Thank you for asking us to be part of your wedding day. We’re delighted that you want to seek God’s blessing and His presence in your relationship.

Once you've decided on your date:

1. Click here to complete a form on-line* (this is sent automatically).
2. Then wait to hear from us when we will confirm this date.

Please do not make further plans until you have heard back from us
  • You can see suggestions of hymns and readings (you can even hear them!) - click here.
  • Come and worship with the church when you can. You’ll feel more familiar on the day.
  • Some months before the wedding, contact me and we’ll arrange to meet.
  • We’ll arrange a rehearsal to take place in the days before the wedding.
  • Remembering forever...some couples like to dedicate a bible with their names and wedding date. Click here if you'd like to know more.
  • A table of fees can be found here.
Of course, you may not be sure what you want. If you want to discuss any ideas, we'd love to hear from you. You can find out more about weddings by clicking here.  Please talk to us about your circumstances and we will help!

If you are marrying abroad and want a celebration with family and friends on your return we can also offer a Service of Blessing.

We look forward to hearing from you!

* Completing the form on-line is the quickest and easiest way, but if you'd prefer, complete the 'Welcome form' (below) and email it to our weddings co-ordinator.
