As association members you are always working in partnership with external organisations that will bring benefits to our community. We even have members who are actively working with Charnwood Borough Council Housing on boards and desission making events and meetings.

To Just Name A Few....

Ward Councillours, County Councilors, MP's, Charnwood Borough Council, Charnwood Borough Council Housing, Leicestershire Police, Loughborough University, Highways, County Council, Go-Getta's, Leicestershire Adult learning, Charnwood Leisure Services and National Citizen Service .

Estate Walkabout

This is where members of the association along with key partners such as Housing, LCC Highways, Police & our Local Councillors and County Councillors take time to take a real look at the area and identify some of the issues that affect the residents. Our estate is such a size we need 2 estate walkabouts a year splitting the estate into 2.

Community Christmas Event

Every year we hold our Christmas Event & Santa's Grotto where members of the community can enjoy Santa's Grotto & children receive a little gift from the big guy with a little help from his elf's. Both children and parents enjoy a feast of party nibbles, games and activities to help celebrate Christmas encouraging that special Christmas spirit. This is helped along with the work of the community association applying for funding from such organisations as Charnwood Borough Council Housing and donations from local business. Members of the community help with donations of food and some even stand in as Santa's elf's.

Shortcliffe Park

Working in partnership with Charnwood Borough Council, our ward councillor & County councillor also Loughborough University & SUEZ communities Trust, formerly known as SITA UK.

Included in this was local children and youths who also helped pick the final design from a selection of designs put forward.

  • A skate park and the youths are loving it.

  • A MUGGA Site allowing a safe and contained ball games area.

  • Play markings on the floor allowing younger children some additional play activities within the park.

  • A new wheelchair and pushchair friendly path allowing a pleasant walk around the park.

Pathway Improvements between Old Ashby Road & Hermitage Road Shops

After a number of complaints from residents using the walk through and tenants living along side, people were getting branches in their face and having to take an extra wide walk round overgrown hedges, people worrying about the blind spots behind these hedge at night.

We worked with the councils contractor for grass & hedge cutting, Charnwood Borough Council Contracts Officers, Private House residents & Council House residents we managed to clear a very overgrown hedge and tree line and created a clear walkway without the hedge blocking views and removal of unsafe blind spots.

After the works a clear walkway and clear line of sight.

Community Scrap Metal Drive

We organise a community scrap metal drive where twice a year where we arrange to collect any old scrap our residents may have and with the support of TBD Morris who supply, sort and pay the Association the scrap value. With this we manage to raise a little funding for the projects in the community; also supporting local residents; helping the environment and reducing fly tipping.

Community Chat Cafe

We hold every Friday from 8:30 till 12:00. Offering refreshments at a real bargain price, allowing our residents a chance to have a natter over a coffee or even speak with a community association member about particular issues where we support and often refer to a specific organisation or department. We are looking to expand on this and have regular slots so residents can meet their specific needs.

Members Of Local Housing CBC

We have members who are active within meetings with Charnwood Borough Council housing, such as the CHRF (Charnwood Housing Residents Forum) and here we work with housing staff in improving the housing and other services within the council.
