Arlon Bayliss, 2007-2012

Arlon Bayliss’ work is in collections and exhibitions world wide including the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, France, Sweden and Brazil. Bayliss completed his post-graduate studies at the Royal College of Art, in London, England in 1981 and has taught widely as visiting artist at universities throughout the United States and Europe. He is Glass Program Director, and Professor of Art and Design at Anderson University, Indiana. He has been an artist and designer with Rosenthal Glass and Porcelain in Germany (who still produce his work) and E.O.S. in Italy. He founded the Bayliss Design Group in 1992 and Studio 4 in 1999; partnerships with his students and graduates.  In the fall of 2001, Bayliss completed a five-year public sculpture project, “The Crystal Arch Project" in collaboration with his teaching colleague, Jason Knapp. Building the monument involved the collaborative efforts of his hometowns' industries and hundreds of its citizens. It incorporates three hundred and sixty engraved“crystals” that tell the stories of the community. In the spring of 2005 Bayliss completed a “Cross of Light” at Christ Lutheran Church in Anderson, Indiana. In 2007 he formed Bayliss Design Team with three of his glass majors and his partner, Mary Jo Andersen. Together they designed new tableware products for Blenko Glass in West Virginia. Bayliss currently serves as Design Director for Blenko. 

His most recent works are installations at the New Indianapolis and Marion County Central Library and the New Indianapolis Airport, Indiana.
