Advanced Optical Coherence Tomography
OCT is a non-invasive imaging modality that uses coherence gating to obtain cross-sectional images of tissue microstructure with high resolution. The goal of this work is to develop advanced optical biopsy using OCT for fast screening and diagnosing cancer and various other diseases.
Multimodal Optical Imaging
There are a number of modern optical imaging techniques, each offering a unique contrast mechanism and sensitivity to examine important bio-compounds in cells and tissues. The objective of this project is to develop complementary optical imaging tool using optical coherence tomography and multi-photon microscopy for monitoring cells and tissues in vivo.
Optical Beam Delivery
The successful translation of optical imaging requires beam delivery systems that can address the wide range of applications for imaging different living specimens. The goal of this study is to implement novel optical beam delivery for in vivo setting which includes versatile handheld probes, endoscope, and imaging needles.
The validation of our techniques is also one of our research components to solve real world problems. There are several projects are planning to use our devices in biology and medicine. Initial target applications include colon cancer detection and in vivo wound healing observation in engineered tissues.
