Sunshine Preschool was established in 1999 to prepare students for Kindergarten. It is best known for its small class size, experienced teacher and nurturing home environment. This preschool program is specifically designed for 3 to 5 year olds. Thus, age appropriate activities are easily provided by a qualified state credentialed teacher. Unlike many daycare centers offering a "preschool program", we do not use a pre-made curriculum purchased through mail order companies. Our lessons are specifically designed to reach the learning needs of individual students. Fun activities will help to strengthen their cognitive, motor, language, and social skills. Since a structured learning routine is followed daily, to help better prepare students for Kindergarten, extended daycare is not incorporated into our program. However, many daycare providers do transport students to and from Sunshine Preschool.
We believe that children ages 3-5 benefit most from attending a two day a week structured program. It is important for young children to not feel over scheduled and to provide them with more creative free play and exploration time at home, libraries, parks, museums, sport groups, friends' homes, etc. Once children start Kindergarten, they will have the next thirteen or more years of their lives to attend school five days a week and be on a full schedule. Thus, preschool quality is much more important than quantity!
