Sanctuary Lamp

The Sanctuary Lamp hangs above the High Altar in St John's. It is always lit and helps remind us God is always present even if we are not in the church building. God's presence is also embodied in the Reserved Sacrament, the body of Christ, the bread and the wine, which is kept in the Aumbry adjacent to the High Alter.  This doesn't mean God's presence is confined to church, another candle reminds us of this at. At a Christening also called Baptism, the person baptised or their godparent is given a lighted candle to remind them that God is always with in the good and not so good times in their lives.

In sponsoring the Sanctuary we can also acknowledge those good and difficult times.  If you would like to do this please fill in the form at the bottom of the page and either put your donation in an envelope (marked Santuary Lamp plus your details) and place in the collection plate on a Sunday or you can do this via online banking.
