1994  Started 1992 as commercially secret in-house research programme; existence
revealed April 1994; hover tests began 9 May 1994 and first flight (JA9598) made
14 September that year. Mitsubishi's first own-design helicopter. Experimental
engineering test flights completed successfully in March 1995; followed by
