1909  Helicopter built in Putney, London, by J. Miller in 1909. It consisted of two 10ft-diameter spiral counter-rotating screws on a vertical shaft driven by a 50hp motor. A narrow vertical surface was installed outside of the screws for directional control. The machine weighed 1,190lb. |
