Project Plans announced in February to develop a new Light Observation Helicopter (LOH)
variant of the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) for reconnaissance and
surveillance duties for the Indian Army. The new LOH is intended to replace the
service's HAL-built Cheetah helicopter. A model was exhibited at Aero-India
2001, which differed externally from the ALH by the use of a fenestron tail
rotor system and a more streamlined nose section. According to HAL officials, it
will carry six passengers and have a maximum T-O weight of around 2.6 tonnes. Jane's Helicopter Markets and Systems |
