ALL THAT WAS MISSING  were the  strains of high noon when the two teams from Ketton, led by Shirley Suffling and Bob Warters  faced up to see who would take the spoils in the final of this year’s competition.
That wily old campaigner John Little  (Bob’s team)  rolled into action on the first trial end with his first wood on the jack. He could hardly contain himself. His second wood back to normal , now Bob watching from another rink could hardly contain himself. Throughout the afternoon under the blazing sun all  the usual cries were heard first from one rink then another including “Missed by a fag paper” . must have been thick paper. In the end  all the players, everyone of them including Charlie Underwood who says he never sweats, deserved a round of applause for lasting the pace under such conditions. The result, a win for Shirley’s team  by  53-41. Thanks  to Blackstones for hosting the event, to Maggie Holden for organising it and to our League President Kevin Vinter for presenting the trophy. The rink scores were Shirley’s team first: Ron Tilley, Elizabeth Wallace, Chris Ford 17 Nigel Trigg, John Little, Charlie Underwood 16; Len Warrington, Pat Jones,, Bob Kelman 12  Bob Warters, Elaine Upton, Dick Ford 17; Ken White, Shirley Suffling, David Tilley 24 John Suffling, Carol Warters, Stafford Wallace 9.

The players line up before the match with League President Kevin Vinter.

Kevin presents the Rosebowl to winning captain Shirley Suffling and her team.
