CLUB PROFILE
No one knows the exact date when bowling started on our Lincoln Road site but it was certainly
taking place in the 1930's . The current green was relayed in the early 1950s and is now looked
after by Mark Hammond. It is without doubt considered to be one of the best playing surfaces in
the area. Blackstones Bowls Club is a section of the Blackstones Sports and Social Club
which also provides football, netball and the usual pub games to its members. It holds
entertainment nights and bingo in the clubhouse. The Bowls Club has 60 playing members and
has three teams in the Stamford League 1st. Division, one ofwhich holds the current league
champion trophy, and one in the second division. The Club also has teams in the Peterborough
League Club 60 Premier League, the Premier Weekend League and have a team in the
3rd Division of the Midweek League.One of the Club’s teams, captained by John Earl, currently
holds the Dan Duffy Championship and will be representing Northants EBF in the Durham
Centenary Trophy this season. The Club is usually well represented in the National Finals and
over the years has had several National Champions. .The Club provides both friendly and
competitive bowling and makes new members very welcome.
