MON - FRI : 8am to 7pm        SAT : 9am to 4pm         SUN : 9am to 12 noon

At a well-attended ceremony on Saturday 7th February we formally declared Spaxton Community Stores open. After an eloquent speech by Richard Lee thanking all those organisations and individuals who have contributed to its establishment, the eldest and youngest Spaxton pupils cut the ribbons and the School's hand-bell ringers rang-in the new shop. Throwing open the doors, we soon had our first long queue of happily chatting shoppers ,whilst others of the large crowd enjoyed tea and cakes in the Village Hall pavilion.

Spaxton Community Stores is the 23rd Community Shop in Somerset. The money needed has come from almost 300 shareholders, grants, private donations and loans. The effort has been provided by a small group of volunteers who have spent huge amounts of time working towards the successful opening of Spaxton Community Stores. The stores are staffed and managed entirely by volunteers although there may be a part-time paid manager later. We welcome any suggestions that could improve the stores, especially in these early days when we are all learning. Profits will be used to support the maintenance of the shop and other village projects. Using Spaxton Stores helps to make our community an even better place to live.

If you would like to become a shareholder, information will be available in the shop.

If you would like to volunteer to help in any aspect of running the shop, please contact
