Concerts at St Peter's

posted 1 Sep 2017, 01:25 by St Peter Woking

There are two concerts coming up shortly at St. Peter’s Church in Old Woking.

The first on Sunday 17th September at 3.00 features local chamber choir Surrey Cantata, conducted by Sebastian Forbes who was head of music at the University of Surrey when I studied there. The choir will sing a variety of items including Mendelssohn’s “Hear my prayer”, Britten’s “Rejoice in the Lamb” and Purcell’s “My beloved spake”. Please see the attached poster for further details. Those of you who are familiar with St. Peter’s will know what a lovely acoustic it has, so do take this opportunity to hear some beautiful choral music in this lovely setting. Admission will be free with a retiring collection.

The second concert, on Saturday 4th November at 7.30 will be a solo piano recital featuring our Organist Matthew Rickard. It will definitely include some music by Mozart and Beethoven. Once again, admission will be free with a retiring collection.
