We enjoyed dinner and had a lively exchange with world travelers Carol and Irwin Friedman, UUs from Durban, South Africa. Irwin is a public health physician and author of "More Than a Grain," a novel about an Iowa farm family who challenged a giant seedcorporation. Carol is a socio-legal practitioner.

Linda Barnes, Guest Speaker and member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Ames, inspired us with her message on "Becoming Native to this Place: Living the 7th Principle". Linda is an Associate Professor of Biology at Marshalltown Community College where she founded the Entrepreneurial and Diversified Agriculture Program.

Craig Ashmore, Jon Paulson, and Ed Lanning handled desert duties at Stone Soup. Many others in our congregation helped as well. We served about 60 individuals.
