Many thanks to all our patrons for their patience and cooperation as we safely navigate the reopening process.

 We are pleased to announce that beginning August 17th, patrons will be able to make an appointment 

to come into the library for browsing shelves on the main floor or to use the computer. 

Please call (860)376-0024 for details and to make an appointment!

The library's front foyer will remain open for in-person, mask-to-mask service:

Pick up ordered materials

Have copies made

Have faxes sent

Curbside pickup will also continue to be available.

There is a bin provided to return materials in the foyer as well as the return bin outside. Staff will

not accept materials in hand and all items are set aside for 3 days before being checked in and 

backdated to the day they were returned.

Materials from the main floor and children's area may be requested with a total 

of 10 items for adults checked out at a time.
You can check the available books and DVDs on our online catalog 

@@ slater.biblio.org or you can call the library @ (860) 376-0024 to request the materials that 

you would like to check out and a librarian will call back to let you know what items are available.

There are designated parking spots and signage to help with picking up materials.

                       Monday, Wednesday and Friday Noon - 5:00 pm                  
         Tuesday and Thursday 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm
   Saturday 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Digital library cards will continue to be available by emailing slaterlibrary@yahoo. Please include

name, address, birthday and phone number. Those wishing to extend their 3-month digital card, 

please call Slater Library and we will be happy to help you.

out the list of new titles available through the Connecticut State Library's eGO platform.

This summer we will be using the Readsquared program to keep track of reading virtually!

Be a 4-H Brainiac! Summer Library Virtual Programs

2020 UConn 4-H New London County @ SLATER LIBRARY!

Call the library @ (860)376-0024 to sign up! Space is still available!

 These programs are designed for ages 8 -12, but younger children may join with parental help.

Kits for the Brainiac Builds will be available for pick-up at your library on the Monday or Tuesday before the Facebook Live Build. 

 Instructions will NOT be included in your kit, so you will have to watch the Facebook session to see how to do your activity or experiment!

(Instructions will be posted the next day just in case you missed the session.)

Brainiac Build #3 July 15, 10:00 am

Suck-a-Bug, otherwise known as a Pooter, are for real how scientists collect delicate insects. You will build one using a medicine

 bottle and straws. Plus you’ll learn the secret to not getting a bug in your mouth!

Brainiac Build #4 July 29, 10:00 am

Breakfast Nails and Ballerinas mean fun with Neodymium Magnets and cereal (what?!). These
super-strong magnets should be used with an adult around- they are not for play or like refrigerator magnets.

Brainiac Build #5 August 12, 10:00 am

Buckle-up Eggs for a wild ride! You will build an egg vehicle using only spaghetti and rubber bands.Don’t worry parents- we’ll be 

using a plastic Easter egg for our experiment.

4-H Break-out! Escape Rooms

These digital escape rooms will challenge you to solve puzzles, unlock doors and BREAK OUT!

These can be done alone, with a sibling or as a family team. If you get stuck on a lock, 

reach out on our Facebook page @NLC4H and we will help you out with a clue, just like a real escape room!

We miss you all at Slater Library, but being apart doesn't mean that we can't stay connected! One 

way to stay in touch is to join us on the Slater Fox Trail! Print a picture of Slater Fox (below) and 

take him with you on your social distancing adventures! Snap a picture of Slater Fox at a location or 

with you doing something fun. Parents can share the pictures with us via our email: 

slaterlibrary@yahoo.com and we will share to our Facebook page. If you don't have a printer and 

would like to pick up a hard copy of Slater Fox, drop by the library during business hours.
