Spring is here, the ice is almost out so it’s definitely time to start thinking about sailing! Club activities will begin in early May, and we hope that you will be joining us again this year. We look forward to another great season, with lots of activities planned – see our 2011 Club schedule for all the details (left navigation bar).

If you would like to join SVSC this year, please complete the SVSC membership application form and send it with your check to: Sally Sharp, 39 Caleb Dyer Lane, Enfield, NH 03748

Club Opening: WORK DAY #1 is scheduled for Saturday, May 7 (rain date May 8) for which we have an ambitious list of projects. Club sloops will be launched on Saturday May 14.

Sailing: Starting in late May, our very popular Sloop Group will be sailing regularly on Thursday evenings – with plans to picnic afterwards or maybe reconvene at a local restaurant. There will be regular weekend Laser racing (Sunday afternoons starting at 1 pm). SVSC will host the Mascoma Spring Laser Regatta on Saturday June 4, and sloop regattas will be held in late July and August. Again this year we’re planning to run Saturday afternoon “clinics”, ranging from rigging clinics early in the season (for members wanting to use our Club Lasers and sloops) to on-the-water drills and informal practice races, and even a guest speaker or two!

Social Activities: Informal 'pot luck' BBQs will be held on Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day, and in conjunction with the sloop regattas. On Memorial Day we’ll hold a short Annual Meeting with the BBQ and Open House. Picnics are welcome anytime.

Moorings: Limited club moorings are available for club members’ boats on a first come, first serve basis. Members can moor boats only at our Main St. location (as the 4A site is unavailable this year due to road work). Every member who plans to moor a boat must contact Joe Gasparik (603-632-7664) before May 31. After this date we cannot guarantee a spot.

New location: The Shaker Bridge reconstruction project is very much underway, so we have no use of the Shaker Bridge Landing. We are fortunate to have limited use of Joe & Cathy Gasparik’s Main Street property. Small boat storage is available (Lasers on dollies, kayaks/canoes on rack), and lake access will be across the Gasparik waterfront on the right side of their dock. Parking will be along Main St. on the Enfield side of the rail trail underpass.
