Our Mission

Step-by-step and day-by-day is the way of life in a developing country. Most plan for the future while others do not see one. The purpose of S.E.W. (Successfully Empowering Women) is to help brighten the future of women by successfully climbing Africa’s highest mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro. Through the climb, we will strive to raise a substantial amount of money to donate to a women’s group affiliated with a school in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania, Africa.

We do not plan on resolving all of the problems of everyday life, but we do plan on helping solve some obstacles seen in the life of a Maasai woman in Tanzania. With the money raised, S.E.W. plans to bring sustainability to the women’s group of The O’Brien School for the Maasai by furthering their already existing projects and starting new ones too. Although our financial donation will bring them new material, we also hope to bring new ways of expanding their creativity and entrepreneurial skills by volunteering our time.

S.E.W. ultimately wants the women to learn that fighting for what you want can help break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their families.

In addition to helping further the women's projects and starting some new ones, the extra money we raise will go to other projects.  These projects include, but are not limited to, education projects, food, supplies, and other projects we decide to start while we are there.

The school is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.  All donations will be used for the school.  Each climber is paying for his or her trip to Tanzania and climb.  All donations are tax-deductible.
