MM Rules

General Event Rules

1. The Participant must abide by the Event rules. Ignorance of these rules by the Participant is no excuse and failure to comply with these rules will result in disqualification from the Event. In the event of disqualification the Participant maybe required to leave the Event and travel back to the start at their own expense. In these circumstances no refund of the Participant’s entry Fee will be given.

2. The Golden Rule. Once registered, each Participant must download their SI data at the Event Centre before departing, regardless of whether they have retired or not (or even not started). This is how we check to account for everyone being safely off the hill.

3. All Participants are expected to enter into the spirit of this mountain running race and not seek to gain any unfair advantage.

4. Participants must comply with our basic safety rules and obey any reasonable instruction given by an event official.

5. Any Participant seen dropping litter will be disqualified.

6. Participants must comply with the ‘Equipment List’ and carry all mandatory items as specified. Any breach of the mandatory kit list will result in disqualification.

7. Any Participant who acts in a manner that brings the Event into disrepute or endangers another competitor, marshal or member of the public will receive a life ban from Rogue Run’s events

8. For Participants entered as pairs, they must maintain both voice and visual contact with each other for the duration of the Event. They must stay within 40m of each other except at checkpoints, when Both team members must visit the control together.

9. For Participants entered as pairs, if one member of the team must retire, then both team members must retire for that day. If this happens on Day 1, the remaining Participant may start Day 2 solo if they wish to. Individual kit requirements still apply.

10. The competition map may have Out of Bounds Areas, Uncrossable Boundaries and Crossing Points marked on it and these must be respected. An Uncrossable Boundary doesn’t necessary mean it is physically uncrossable, but crossing it would be deemed a breach of the rules.

11. Absolutely no GPS / Satellite navigation devices (including watches, phones etc.) are allowed. This includes GPS watches that can display distance traveled or speed even if they cannot display location data. Altimeters that work via barometric pressure are allowed.

12. We encourage teams to carry a mobile phone with them but it must be turned off. Unless required for a genuine emergency the mobile phone must remain in your rucksack for the duration of the event.

13. Dogs are NOT allowed.

14. Competitors must not be physically ‘supported’ by friends, whilst in the competition.

Event Safety

Event safety considers the impact of all actions on both competitors, marshals and potentially the emergency services such as a Mountain Rescue Team. Safety considerations are dynamic and may change as the race progresses and the weather conditions deteriorate. The Race Director’s decision will be final in all matters relating to safety.

Competitor Safety

The competitor is responsible for his/her own safety.

The nature and the challenge of the Rogue Run’s Mini-Mountain Marathon is that competitors remain self-sufficient and responsible for their own safety throughout the event. Should an accident occur it is initially the competitors’ responsibility to look after each other and raise the alarm. In the event of an accident ensure that the casualty is kept warm, if relevant, and put in their survival bag. Competitors should use their whistle to summon help and ensure that a careful note of casualty’s exact position (grid reference) and any identifiable terrain features, is made.

The Golden Rule

Once registered, each competitor must download their SI data from their dibber at the Day 1 Finish on the first day, and the Event Centre on Day 2, before departing regardless if they are retired or not (or even not started). This is our check to account for everyone being safely off the hill.

Emergency Procedure

Courses close at 1800 each day. Teams failing to finish by then will unfortunately be disqualified.

If a team has not finished AND downloaded their SI data at the event centre by 1810 each day OR they have failed to contact the organisers then the Police and Mountain Rescue will be notified and a search organised.

Bad Weather Course

A bad weather course maybe declared at anytime by the Race Director and in this instance the overall time limits will be reduced and or certain control locations removed.

Camping

The start and Finish is situated at the campsite adjacent to the Dan yr Ogof Cave complex, event centre of the 2004 OMM. Book via http://www.showcaves.co.uk/camp_site.html Prices are very reasonable for what is rather more than a ‘tussocky field and a brackish stream to drink from!’ Electric hook up is available. Please support the campsite, the owner has kindly allowed us to have our Event Centre here.

Kit check

Various items of kit may/will be checked at Registration and/or at any time during the competition.
