Good Turn Challenge During
Girl Scout Week
Did you know
that the Girl Scout slogan is “Do a good turn daily?”
For Girl Scout Week, consider challenging
the scouts in your troop to do a good turn daily.
We know it
is hard to add yet one thing to our busy schedules, so the Good Turns can be
big or small; no cost, low cost or a little more. They can be anonymous or not.
Coffee for a teacher, holding a door
open for someone, pick up trash in the neighborhood, let someone go before you
in line, hand out words of encouragement to friends or strangers, bring flowers
to the Redwoods, donations to Goodwill, care packages for a homeless
shelter. You get the idea.
Here’s how it could work:
1.
Let the girls know the challenge and let them
decide on the number of Good Turns to do over the week.
2.
Each girl keeps track of her Good Turns and
reports back to the troop at the next meeting.
Ways for the girls to track their Good
Turns:
¨
Make a list.
¨
Make a paper chain and add a link every time you
do a Good Turn.
¨
Make a bracelet and put a bead on the bracelet
with each Good Turn.
¨
Make knots in a chord for each Good Turn.
