Who we are

Introduction

The Precision Valley Disaster Recovery Committee was created in the wake of Hurricane Irene to coordinate the long term recovery efforts and to position our community to respond more quickly to future disasters.

We have formed three initial committees -

    • Advisory Committee - to coordinate with the communities in our area and provide a central point of contact to other disaster relief organizations.
    • Community Assessment Committee - formed after a disaster to survey our communities and determine what needs remain unmet.
    • Triage/Case Management Committee - formed after a disaster to make a database of needs, prioritize response efforts, and connect people with potential resources to address their needs.
    • Temporary Housing - to coordinate places for volunteers to stay while they are working in our communities.

The Purpose (Mission)

    • Survey our communities to determine what needs remain unmet after the initial Emergency Response
    • Coordinate volunteer efforts to help in clean-up and repair efforts
    • Assure that people have adequate temporary shelter

    3. Identify ways that volunteers can assist people in recovering from a disaster and provide shelter and food for the volunteers.
    4. Assist people in applying for grants and loans to assist in recovering from the disaster.
