Tiago Vieira received the PhD title in Control and Computer Engineering from the Politecnico di Torino (Turin, Italy) in 2013. He received the M. Sc. and B. Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Pernambuco (Recife, Brazil) in 2009 and 2007, respectively.

He is an adjunct professor at the Institute of Computing (IC) at the Federal University of Alagoas (Maceió, Brazil), since 2014. His main areas of research are:

  • Digital image processing.
  • Computer Vision
  • Machine Learning.

  • PhD from the Dept. of Control and Computer Engineering.
  • Analysis and development of image processing algorithms applied to computer vision and machine learning.
  • Accomplishments:
    • Algorithm for automatic detection of siblings from their face images;
    • Detection of parent-child image pairs;
    • Diagnostic of autoimmune diseases from the classification of cell images;
    • Development of eye-tracking systems for helping people with motor diseases;
    • Involvement with an augmented reality project for the processing of aerial images.

Trainee at the Dept. of Applied Research in Physics.
  • Construction of a robotic mechanism able to translate a Laser Doppler interferometer and Hot-Wire-Anemometry sensors along 3 orthogonal axes, used to investigate acoustic field properties using Laser-Doppler Interferometry.
