Presbytery Conference Update

Malcolm Kinnear has agreed to produce a Prayer for Lochaber Presbytery along with prayer topics for each of the congregations. The Education Group is progressing work on Congregational Worship Leaders and Worship Teams

Moderator elect

At the March Presbytery meeting - Rev Morag Muirhead, OLM at Duncansburgh MacIntosh l/w Kilmonivaig was elected to be Moderator of Presbytery for the 2018/19 year. The June meeting of Presbytery will begin with worship during which Morag will be installed as Moderator. The service including Holy Communion will be at Duncansburgh MacIntosh at 4pm and will be followed by a buffet meal prior to Presbytery business beginning at 6pm.

Mfuwa Water Project

At the December 2017 meeting, Presbytery committed to raising the £4500 required for the Mfuwa Water Project. Any surplus funds will be allocated to the Mfuwa School Project. £800 has been raised so far. Funds raised can be forwarded to the Presbytery Treasurer. Morag Muirhead has created a Leaflet about the project this can be downloaded at: Presbytery Shared Dropbox Folder, and printed copies can be made available - please contact the clerk if you wish printed copies.


Recent SG training events have been well attended and appreciated. Safeguarding Trainer Helen Allen will convene a meeting of coordinators in the near future and will be rolling out further training events at various venues.

General Assembly 2018

The General Assembly of the Church of Scotland opens on May 19th and among 850 or so commissioners will be 3 ministers and three elders from Lochaber Presbytery. Assembly information is on the CofS Website and at

Highland Presbyteries

Lochaber along with other 'Highland Presbyteries' are looking to ways to work more collaboratively and efficiently. Information and Resources are at: Lochaber Presbytery has committed to the joint Local Church Review initiative. Rev Anthony Jones and Rev Fiona Ogg will take a lead on this work.
