About Us

The purpose of the club is to give players of all ages (5 to100+) the opportunity to play Table Tennis socially and competitively in Port Macquarie and other towns (eg Newcastle, Wauchope, Kempsey, Coffs Harbour, Nambucca).
Table Tennis started out in Port Macquarie in the 1990’s as a part of the PCYC.
Its development has taken place under the influence of John Marr and Ken Sands.
While not historically renowned as a strong table tennis town, John and Ken have contributed much to the sport in Port Macquarie and there has been a marked increase in the quality and quantity of players coming through since they have been involved. We started off with four teenagers and the numbers have grown since and we’ve managed to bring home medals from competitions in just about every year since.
While John Marr was alive he was Coach, Player and Coordinator for the Club. He settled in Port Macquarie at the end of the 1980’s and raised the profile of the sport in the town in later years. He developed the Club from a corridor operation with four teenagers to a well-equipped set-up attracting players of varying ages and abilities. As a coordinator John was determined and committed and wasted no time in getting things done. As a coach he had an eye for promising talent and an ability to bring out the best in players.
