What? Where? When?

Aims

The aim of the school is to allow children, aged 5 to 18 years, to learn Polish, including some elements of history, geography, and tradition, as well as to develop their interest in Polish culture. The school’s organisers hope that through work and play, the children will have an opportunity, not only to improve their knowledge of the language, but also to develop friendships and to nurture their sense of identity. For children, whose families only recently arrived in South Wales, the school provides an opportunity to meet others in similar situation, helping them to integrate into Welsh society.

The school actively supports children who wish to gain qualifications in the Polish language in the British educational system (GCSE, AS and A- level).

Organisation

The School does not receive any external funding and all organisers and teachers of the school work voluntarily.

The school is governed by the School Committee and managed by the Executive Committee.

Where and when?

Lessons are held on Saturdays, in Cefn Hengoed Community School, Caldicot Road, Winch Wen, Swansea SA1 7HX, between 9.30 am and 12.30 noon, during term time.

Fees

Because the school does not receive any external funding, there is a charge for the lessons, which will allow the school to raise funds to cover the running costs. The charge for each Saturday session is £5.00 for the first child and £3.00 for other children from the same family. School fees should be paid at the beginning of each term.

Parents, who have not yet decided whether they wish to enrol their child or children, can come along on any Saturday during term time for a free trial session.
