About Hecla and Transportation

Hecla Provincial Park
This year, the 2014 PIIN meeting will be held at Hecla/Grindstone Provincial Park located at the centre of Manitoba.  This beautiful park offers amazing scenery and interesting landscape including forests, limestone cliffs and silica sand beaches, as well as marshes, bogs, fens and wet meadows.  You will be able to find a wide range of outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, bird watching, camping, swimming, fishing, or simply walking on the white sand beaches.  Hecla provincial park provides an opportunity to visit an area of geological (eg Precambrian Shield, sedimentary rock) and biological diversity featuring marine, marsh, and forest habitats for mammals (eg moose, beaver, wolf) but also for reptiles and amphibians. Historically, the area was of great significance to Ojibwa people, and later for Icelanders who settled the area in the later 1800s.  Indeed, this will be a summer retreat perfect for you and your family to enjoy during your stay at the 2014 PIIN meeting.

Check out the following webpage for more details about the park, park information/map, tourist attractions, hiking/cycling trials, etc.
