Error: "Unable to write all files due to a disk error. The disk may be full or read-only"

When Exporting photos or Saving Edits, this error may appear in Picasa:

"Unable to write all files due to a disk error. The disk may be full or read-only"

The reasons for this error may be any of the following:

• • The drive you are exporting to is full or the diskspace is very low. Solve this by cleaning up the disk (empty the recycle bin, remove obsolete files, etc).

    • In Windows, run Disk Cleanup

  • The name of the exported file contains a characters such as ";" or "&" The solution is to remove the characters from the filename before exporting.

  • The .jpg image you are exporting is a "progressive" jpg. Open the .jpg in a photo editor such as Paint, and "Save as..." using a different file name.

  • The picture you are exporting is very large such as 10,000 pixels wide or high. There is no known solution other than to reduce the file size using another photo editor such as IrfanView (Image > Resize/Resample).

If you see the following error when importing pictures, see: Error: "Source is unavailable" or "The destination is full or read-only"
