Sharp shooting thorns are fired from your finger tips toward the target. You must succeed on a ranged touch attack for the hard thorns to hit, which immediately cause 1d4+1 hit points damage per level (maximum +10). Unless dispelled between the first round of casting and the next round, each thorn then instantaneously sprouts a 10 foot long vine during your initiative the next round, causing another set of identical damage. Thereafter the target continues to bleed at a rate of 2 hit points per round until the thorns are cut out with a bladed weapon or otherwise removed, a process requiring one round that causes base weapon damage. A successful Heal check is required to stop any bleeding though magical healing of any sort will do so automatically, though it doesn't remove the vines.

Additionally, the presence of each vine grants you and your allies a +6 CMB bonus to grapple the target. The target may also be pulled closer, granting you or your allies the Pull (Ex) monster ability (pull [vines, 5 feet]) when using the vines against the target. Only living targets are affected so constructs and other creatures without a clear fleshy anatomy are unaffected by this spell.
