Lycanthropy Subdomain

Associated Domain: Madness.

Replacement Power: The following granted power replaces the aura of madness power of the Madness domain.

Lycanthropy (Su): At 8th level, the cleric becomes an afflicted lycanthrope of a type of his choice.  Once the choice is made it cannot be changed.  The cleric may add his level to any Constitution checks made to change shape.  At 14th level he becomes a natural lycanthrope of the same type.

Whenever the cleric changes to hybrid or animal form, he must make a DC 20 Will save to remain in control of himself.  He also must make this check at sundown on the night of the full moon.  If he fails he is under the control of the GM until the next sunrise; while "out of control" he will remain in either hybrid or animal form and will typically see other beings as potential food, even if such creatures are his friends, unless they are also lycanthropes or animals of the same type as his animal shape.

When "out of control" the GM may allow additional will saves if circumstances warrant.  Calm animal or hold animal will normally allow a new save, and the GM may allow a new save if the lycanthrope is about to attack a dear friend or do something that is drastically against his own interest.  Casting polymorph (or any similar effect) on a lycanthrope will result in the target regaining control as long as it fails its save against the polymorph; a lycanthrope will always resist being polymorphed.

This type of lycanthropy cannot be cured unless the cleric loses his cleric abilities due to violating his deity's code of conduct (this does not remove the lycanthropy, but does allow it to become treatable).  If the cleric loses his divine abilities he also no longer gets a modifier on constitution checks to change shape.  If the cleric's powers are ever restored he becomes a lycanthrope again.

Replacement Domain Spells: 2ndbull's strength, 5th—beast shape III, 6th—moonstruck, 9thfreedom.
