This long, flat-bottomed ship has a few oars to supplement its single mast with a square sail. It can make both sea and river voyages. Some have a cabin built in the middle. Keelboats are designed to carry cargo, rather than for fighting. Types of keelboats include the cog, hoy, hulk, karve, and knarr.
