Olivia Mode-Cater is the co-founder and artistic director of [AFTER EIGHT] DANCE, an edgy and energetic dance company founded in 2012.  AFTER EIGHT is comprised of eight dancers that create and perform original works.   We have repertory in various genres of dance, such as modern, contemporary, jazz, and hip hop, which enables us to cater our performances to each audience, as well as provide a thrilling and eclectic show.  Olivia has also been a company member of Zaman Dance Theater Collective since 2011 and has performed throughout the tri-state area in prestigious venues, such as the Joyce Theater and Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater, and various dance festivals.  She has also performed the works of Urban Bush Women, Mark Morris, Doug Elkins, Randy James, Julia Ritter, Jeff Friedman, Paulette Sears, and John Evans.  In addition to performing and choreographing, Olivia is an experienced educator, who received her Ed.M. in Dance Education with a PK-12 Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing in Dance at Rutgers University. Not shortly after graduation Olivia was awarded with New Jersey Department of Education's 2012 Student Teacher of the Year Award, as the first ever dance educator to have received such recognition.  Olivia is currently a full-time dance educator at Barack Obama Green Charter High School, where she has started her own dance program.
