Old Time Weekend - Jamming by the Potomac River

Please visit the new festival page at OldTimeFrederick.org

The 2nd annual Old Time Weekend !
Last weekend of September 2018.
Thur Sep 27 5pm + Fri Sep 28 + Sat Sep 29 + Sun Sep 30 noon.

Music. This is about old time music: traditional American square dance tunes played with fiddles, banjos, guitars, and other acoustic instruments. You won't see stage performances but you'll hear great music just by walking from campsite to campsite.

The Brunswick Family Campground is a city park managed by River & Trail Outfitters.
The campground is between the Potomac River, the C & O Canal, and a CSX train yard. You can ride bikes, paddle kayaks, hike the canal towpath, or watch the trains.
The campground has
a bath house with showers. The camp store rents bikes and kayaks and sells firewood, ice, and camping supplies. There are five heated cabins which are reserved for festival use including indoor jams. There are parking lots near the tent areas but cars should not park on the grass.  Dogs with leashes, and fishing with a license, are allowed. The campground enforces Quiet Time 11pm to 7am. Alcohol is not permitted outside of one's tent or RV. A
manager and security guard remain on site overnight.

Registration. Email us in advance at FrederickOldTime@gmail.com so we know how many campers to expect. Tell us the number of adults and kids, which nights, and whether you plan to sleep in your tent, vehicle, RV or a cabin. If you make your own reservation through the
Brunswick Family Campground, tell them you are with the Acoustic Pickers, request a location near the south end, and inform us of your reservation. Thank you.

Donation. We will gladly accept donations to cover the campground rental. For those visiting one day only, we suggest $10 per adult. For tent campers, we suggest $20 per adult for the entire festival. For those renting an RV pad, you must pay the campground so no donation required. Everyone: do not pay any campground entrance fee! Instead, say you are with the festival and visit us to get your wristband.

Tent camping or RV rental. We reserved an area for tent camping and you may pitch your tent for free but you may not drive on the grass. For about $55/night, you can rent an RV pad that holds an RV plus a vehicle and offers water, electricity, fire pit, picnic table, and nearby dumping station.
The festival organizers reserved RV pads A19, A20, D11, D12. We also reserved all five heated cabins for jams; contact us about sleeping in a cabin.

Hotels, rooms, and RV renting.
TravelLodge includes Penny's Diner, wifi, and pets for about $100/night. The Oak Tree Inn and Lockkeeper's Inn are closed. Across the bridge in Lovettsville VA there is Georges Mill B&B and Stone Manor Country Club. There are larger hotels in Harper's Ferry WV, Frederick MD, and Leesburg VA. There are suburban rooms to rent on AirBnB, and RVs to rent on RVshare and Beckley's. The Trail Head Journey rents a car loaded with camping gear and food!

Stores. The Beans in the Belfry cafe is home to our Old Time Jam every 1st and 3rd Sunday. The cafe in a restored old church serves coffee, wine, beer, sandwiches, and dessert. The Towpath Creamery, a small grocery right at the railroad crossing, serves Trickling Springs ice cream by the cone. The Smoketown Brewing Station in a converted old firehouse serves local brews; you can order dinner from King's Pizza next door. The Potomac Street Grill can handle meat lovers and vegetarians. The Corner Store at Maryland & Potomac streets sells wine, beer, soda, and milk. The giant Weiss supermarket is on 17 near the Brunswick exit from highway 340. The Moose Lodge is closed but the American Legion post 96 at the Maple Street railroad crossing hosts country music on Fridays.
