Compound Microscopes

AmScope MD130 for Compound Microscopes

  • Software to view on Mac: PhotoBooth
  • Remove the ocular lens and replace with the mScope MD130 microscope
  • Connect via USB cable to USB SuperSpeed 3.0 port. Note, that many computers have two USB ports that operated at different speeds. If you do not get an image, try the other port.
  • Reboot the software if necessary

Proscope Adapter for Compound Microscopes

  • Software of view on Mac: Proscope
  • To use the proscope with a biological microscope, first remove the lens by gently pressing down on the lens-release button and then rotating and removing the lens. Replace the lens with the threaded ring adapter, and then thread the sleeve into the adapter ring.
  • This apparatus does not replace any lenses. It merely places the Proscope over the ocular lens in the place of your eye.
  • Connect via USB cable to USB SuperSpeed 3.0 port. Note, that many computers have two USB ports that operated at different speeds. If you do not get an image, try the other port.
  • Reboot the software if necessary
  • Note: The Proscopes will only focus with the short tube microscopes, not the long tube ones.

Carson Universal Cell phone adapter for Compound Microscope

  • View through a compound microscope with a cell phone camera
  • Position your phone in the bracket such that the camera lens aligns with the center of the hole
  • Adjust the brackets so the phone is secure
  • Open the clamps and place the phone over the ocular lens of the microscope.
  • Stabilize the phone with your hand. The apparatus stabilizes the phone, but does not fully support it.
  • Initially you will see a photo like the one on the left below. Zoom to see higher resolution and take photos.

Proscope Handheld Microscope

  • Software to view on Mac: Proscope
  • Connect the USB cable to the computer
  • Connect via USB cable to USB SuperSpeed 3.0 port. Note, that many computers have two USB ports that operated at different speeds. If you do not get an image, try the other port.
  • Reboot the software if necessary
  • The proscope allows you to examine the surface features of objects as shown
