Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race

There have been very few years in the last 45 when the club has not had at least one entry in the DW race. This 125 mile race is a Classic International Series event. You don't need to have any aspirations to win to enter this amazing challenge though. As a test of endurance, it presents something for all paddlers with determination. There are a number of ways to compete - Juniors and K1 paddlers do the course over 4 days in daylight only, while senior K2 paddlers can enter "the straight-through" a non stop, grueling challenge for those who are tough enough. Whichever way you do it, river conditions or weather can add to the degree of severity of this memorable event.

The club have a whole range of people who have competed with some outstanding performances. Jimmy Butler still holds the K1 record of 14:46:42 having set it in 1993! Many have tried ... none have yet succeeded in beating it.

There are dozens of people with extensive support, planning and training experience too. If you are interested just ask.
