General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

The new GDPR Act that comes into force on 25th May 2018 will change the way in which the club manages the personal information of its members including images.

The management of images of individuals on the club FB page and website will change. In simple terms the club will need the consent of every person in the picture who is clearly the main subject of the picture to publish. There is a legal coverall for bystanders and general public who just happen to fall into shot.

IMPORTANT

Please read and act on the following section.

To ensure Nottingham Kayak Club is GDPR compliant from 25th May we require all existing members to give the club their consent to manage their personal information.

The committee is taking this opportunity to ensure the information we hold about our members is correct and up to date.

All individual members of ANY category and the lead member of all families should complete a new membership form either on paper (new forms will be available in the club house from 6pm Tuesday 8th May OR online at  https://goo.gl/forms/ZCjO3eeCw12pi1YH2

NO membership or racking fees are due. This is a data collection/update & consent exercise

When completing the form either on paper or online please note the following:

  1. Tick the appropriate membership category that you hold
  2. In the racking section complete the number of racks you think you have so we can cross check our records

The contact form completed by ‘drop in’ paddlers and the key application form have also been updated and can be found on the club website Membership page and in the clubhouse.

The club privacy policy is the key document and first point of reference if you have questions or queries. (Document attached below.)

For those people entering specific events like the K4 race and Nottingham Hasler race, please see the specific details of what information is collected, what is stored, how it is used and in some cases time limited. There are also options for you to withold data so it does not appear on results. Parents should pay special attention where they are asked to indicate their approval of data being used and stored.
