We are located at 75 S. Main St., Northfield, Vermont 05663 (next door to the Brown Public Library)
Closed for the winter, however we are available by appointment. See contact information below.
"Glimpses of Northfield's Past" is the permanent exhibit at the Paine House. The exhibit will be a work in progress as we will strive to change out sections of the exhibit on a regular basis to keep it fresh and to highlight various aspects of Northfield's history. An attached shed has also been converted into exhibit space, featuring old tools. Currently featured are displays of Northfield's one-room school houses, devastating past fires in Northfield, a history of the restoration of the Richardson Cemetery (Northfield's oldest and first cemetery, including a display of the original gravestones, which were replaced with exact reproductions), Northfield souvenir items from times past, railroad and stone/granite works history, and other items. We also have Northfield-related books and other items for sale.
This winter the Exhibit Committee will be getting together to plan new exhibits which will replace some of the previous exhibits cited above. Please check back for 2014 hours. We are also available by phone and email, although email is the best way to reach us.
Please feel free to contact us is you would like more information or to make an appointment. All requests will receive a response within a week of your initial contact.
