Cortney's kale chips

21/04/2013

When Cortney was visiting Dunedin from the United States, she shared this dish with us a few times. It was a hit - a wonderful healthy snack and so easy and so moreish!

Ingredients

  • Kale

  • Olive oil

  • Sesame oil

  • Soya sauce

  • Hot sauce (optional)

  • Coconut flakes/shavings (optional)

Preparation

Preheat oven, about 200 C

Remove thick bits of stem, tear kale leaves roughly into pieces the size of playing cards

Prepare olive oil, sesame oil, soya sauce, hot sauce (optional)

Roughly a 6:2:1:1 ratio. Not too much is needed, just enough to coat the amount of leaves that you have.

Add coconut flakes/shavings if you'd like

Spread the pieces thinly and bake until crisp, checking on them so that they don't burn and that they're not soggy. A good stir around may be necessary at some point.

Cook until crisp, maybe around 10-20 minutes.
