KRZY/KQRP

KQRP / KRZY (and others):

Captain Crazy was one prolific pirate operator, but that fact proved to be his undoing. One of his first appearances on the shortwave pirate scene was as VPR Radio in the 1979-1980 timeframe. Over time the names and calls changed, and the programming evolved. KQRP was “the bandits of broadcasting” for a while, and later he just went with KRZY.

His frequent operating habits eventually attracted the attention of FCC enforcement division which sent him a cease and desist letter, which the good Captain re-used as a QSL letter as shown below.
