Monu Joy

Crystallographer | Chemist | Critical Thinker!

Dr. Monu Joy is a Research Scientist (Crystallographer) at the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). Monu received his bachelor's and master’s in chemistry from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. Prior to earning his PhD from Clarkson University in New York, he worked as a staff crystallographer at the School of Pure and Applied Physics (SPAP) at Mahatma Gandhi University in Kerala. Monu has been a crystallographer in the UTD's X–ray diffraction facility since early 2023 and has successfully handled complex structures. He has processed ~400 crystal structures and (co)authored approximately 30 articles in peer–reviewed scientific journals. He is an affiliate of the International Center for Diffraction Data (ICDD); and has been serving as a peer–reviewer for numerous journals dealing with crystal structures and structural chemistry in general. Additionally, Monu was awarded the Ludo Frevel crystallography scholarship in recognition of his outstanding work in crystallography. This scholarship is highly prestigious and considered one of the most esteemed awards for young scholars within the international crystallography community.
