Frequently Asked Questions

When is the bowls season?

The season runs from 1st April to 30th September

How do I access the green?

You will need to purchase a gate key (@cost) from the committee.

You will also be given the code to the shed locks. (This code must NOT be shared with anyone who is not a club member. It is imperative that the shed is locked, AND the numbers scrambled when you are last to leave. Also, if there is no one else playing on either green, you must lock the gate.

 When can I practise?

Monday to Sunday 11am to dusk UNLESS a competition or league match is taking place.

see fixtures

Please look out for week to week changes.

Can I practise with other members?

Yes, there are several groups who practise together regularly,

Please ask for contact details

You can also start a group if you wish to.

What rules must I follow on the green?

The rules and laws of bowling can be found on the notice board in our shed or on the club website which has a link to the governing body

 BCGBA Website.

Green etiquette is as important.

Dress code. We have a dress code of white tops, grey bottoms.( club tops can be purchased if you wish)

Flat shoe/Trainers to be worn on the green.

Equipment  We do have a number of spare bowls for new members when you start, however, we would ask you to purchase your own when you have been with us for a few weeks.

Can I use the other green?

The two greens are leased, one to the "Museum" the other to "Crown Green" by the "Parent Co" Beacon Park Bowling Green Maintenance Company (BPBGMC).

Players from each club can use both greens, but NOT when either club has a competition taking place.

Should there be a need!! to use the other green and the other club has members practising , seek courteous permission.

Can I enter the Discovery Hub?

Only when either club is using it on a club or league match days. We do Not use when a third party has hired the "Hub"

General Information

The annual fee paid by all bowling members from both clubs is paid to the "BPBGMC"  The fees cover the maintenance, equipment, utility bills and insurance for all green operations.

Health &Safety  Both the club and BPBGMC have a firm H&S policy. There is a risk assessment chart in the shed which we advise you read. Should you have any queries regarding this or any other matter, please contact a committee member or team captain.

The club has a website "Lichfield Museum Bowling Club". Further information can be found there, including committee members/club constitution/ results/history/photographs and more.
