Setting Your 'Sites' Higher with Google Sites

1. Go to Google Sites and create blank site


2. Choose a colour scheme


Choosing Colour
- Palettes Paletton - creating colour palettes that are monochromatic, adjacent colours, triad, tetrad or free style
- Adobe Colour - creating colour palettes that are analogous, monochromatic, triad, complementary, compound, shades and custom palettes
- Piknic - choosing one colour with hex codes
- Hailpixel - creating colour palettes based on personal choice
- ColourLovers - create your own palette or choose from a bunch of made palettes as well as patterns
- Chrome Add-On: Colorzilla - allows you to pick colours from any picture/ image and matches the hex code
- Chrome Add-On:Palette for Chrome - Creates a colour palette from an image

3. Create a header/banner

- Google Drawing
- Preview (on Mac)

4. Customise the background 

- Change to a solid colour
- insert an image
- create your own pattern using your palette with ColourLovers
- To change: Select 'More Actions' --> Manage Site --> Themes, Colours and Fonts --> Entire Page --> Backgrounds

5. Customise colours/ fonts

- Select More Actions (wheel) --> Manage site --> Themes, Colours and Fonts
- Use your hex # from your palette to match colours

6. Create pages 

- New page (top right corner page with + OR shortcut fn+c)
- Change layout to suit needs

7. Navigation - Sidebar or horizontal navigation

- Select More Actions (wheel) --> Edit site layout
- Select/deselect sidebar or horizontal navigation
- Page hierachy
- 3 click rule

8. Add gadgets
