Emily MacLean is the Deputy Head of Junior School (Innovation & School Excellence) at an independent school in Melbourne. Emily teaches inquiry using the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP).  She has previously worked in Canada, Singapore and China as an education technology coach and PYP classroom teacher. 

Emily enthusiastically supports teachers across the Primary school to integrate education technology into the classroom. She regularly leads professional development sessions using best practice, works one-on-one with teachers to build capacity and empowers teachers through coaching. She is passionate about fostering student voice and leadership inside and out of the classroom. Emily enjoys doing ‘Just Dance’ with her students and building a positive school culture. 


Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, Emily moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia to complete her Bachelor of Science (Psychology and Sociology & Social Anthropology) from Dalhousie University. She also holds a Bachelor of Education (Primary/Junior) from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and is registered with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT#616088). She has additional qualifications in Reading, Special Education, Kindergarten and Intermediate Mathematics. Emily holds two Masters of Education  - one in information technologies and a second in educational leadership through Charles Sturt University.
