All about Mrs. Polenz

My name is Giselle Polenz and this my second year at Edison. I started my Colorado teaching career at Knapp Elementary (DPS) in 2001. I spent 7 years at Knapp as a 1st Grade ELA-S Teacher; then 3 years Special Education. I received my Masters Degree from CU Boulder in Multi Cultural and Bilingual Education, and then subsequently a Special Education Endorsement from CU. Prior, I received my undergraduate degree in my native Peru, where I lived with my family until I moved to Colorado in 2000.

During the years 2011-2014, I was in Saudi Arabia with my husband and two children. My husband Daniel accepted a transfer with his work as an Engineer.  Never shying away from travel, and the opportunity to experience the diversity our  world has to offer, myself and two children, Giselle and Daniel jumped at the  chance to live abroad. While in Saudi Arabia. I worked at International Schools Group- Jubail as an ESL and Reading Specialist. We all thrived during this experience, and return to Colorado with an even stronger appreciation for cultural difference, diversity and tolerance.

This is going to be my third year at Edison. The support I've received from the Edison administration and teachers since the beginning of the  school year 2015/2016 until now has been exceptional , the Edison parents are phenomenal , and the students are a joy to work with.  I looking forward to another wonderful year 2017/2018!
