The Community Choir meets on a Thursday evening in the Church at 7 pm.  Most of us don’t read music, but under Gary’s expert tuition we make a very passable sound.  So if anyone would like to join us for the love of singing, we meet on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. at Church Road.

These past three months have been a very trying time for some at Church Road.  There are times when things seem to be going wrong all the time.

We started with the heating system that was serviced earlier in the year.  After just a couple of weeks one of the heaters packed up “again!”  Nothing would persuade it to work.  So, as it was coming up to the warmer weather, it was decided to leave any repairs until around September when the nights get late, early.  (It gets dark earlier).  This decision was made mainly because the heating engineer who serviced the system had a heart attack but gave me the number of someone who would do the job for us.

Come September, and one phone call later, I met a young man who, after two hours working, advised me that the “time-clock” was “up-the-creek” and needed replacing.  Also, to modify all the heaters would cost quite a lot of money.  He suggested replacing the time clock and then he would check each heater and let me know the result.

Around 15:00 that afternoon I had a call from the engineer who advised me that all was well again.  I asked him if he would be prepared to look after the system for us.  “YES!”  So we now have a very reliable man looking after the heaters.

Next, there are some very small holes in the floor where the pews were removed, and unfortunately someone sitting on a chair moved and the chair-leg went down the hole.  Fortunately there were no injuries.  It’s a problem to fill the holes because the floor is floating!

On Saturday I was in Weston and met a young friend, Ian Fraser.  After chatting for a few minutes the subject came around to the Church.  Well, the holes in the floor came up and I advised Ian I was trying to find a steel company where I could get some thin metal plates to put over the holes.  “Tell me what you want and I’ll see what I can do.  I work for a fabrication company!”

I must admit I’ve been praying and worrying about heaters, holes, lights, notice-boards and all sort of things.  So it just goes to show.  Pray and you’ll get the answers!  In these two cases the answers came close together and from the most unexpected people.

And now for something completely different.

We know Lucifer is sitting on every Christian shoulder, just waiting to pop some rubbish into our ears.  So here are a few little examples of words you may find interesting:

I understand these words were written by an unknown child.

God’s Voice                                                     Lucifer’s Voice

Stills you                                                         Rushes you

Leads you                                                        Pushes you

Reassures you                                               Frightens you

Enlightens you                                               Confuses you

Encourages you                                              Discourages you

Comforts you                                                   Worries you

Calms you                                                        Obsesses you

Convicts you                                                     Condemns you

God is never early and He’s never late.  He’s always right on time and His plans for you are good.

God is a God of Love and Order.  If the voice you are hearing doesn’t sound like those things, then they are not from Him.

Mark 10:15 “I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive The Kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it!”

Almighty God, help us to help others to accept You and understand Your Love, Forgiveness and Blessings, all given without exception, to all who accept Jesus Christ into their lives. Amen.
