Our Bond with AlbaThe bond between Medord, Oregon and Alba, Italy became official in 1960. The affiliation of the two cities was born under the auspices of President Dwight Eisenhower’s “People to People” program. The success of the union for over a half century has been based upon deep and abiding friendship among persons, families and the leaders of both cities. In 2010, Medford and Alba celebrated fifty years as sister cities. For that occasion, the sister city committee in Alba created a remarkable book documenting the history of our “gemellaggio”. Alba’s committee chairman, Giorgio Sordo worked with former Alba mayor, Enzo Demaria, Alba’s first ambassador to Medford, Pino Dutto and Lucia Toppino to compile and edit the story of our half century as friends. The book can be viewed or downloaded at the link below. It tells the remarkable story of one of the world’s most successful sister city connections. |
