Longhorsley WI

There were 14 members present at our April meeting to hear all about the great service that is the Great North Air Ambulance. Unfortunately, the booked speaker cancelled at short notice, but Amanda Simmister from the GNAA was an excellent and enthusiastic replacement. The GNAA covers 8000 sq. miles from its bases in Eaglescliffe, Teesside, and Langwathby, near Penrith, and has the largest area in the country to cover. All services are funded by public subscription with no government funding (or intervention!). We are lucky to be able to access this service which, perhaps surprisingly, had its busiest year in 2021.

Our next meeting on Thursday 5th May, at 7.30 pm in the Village Hall will be our Annual Meeting - the first actual AM since 2019. Jo Dickson, WI Adviser, will be joining us to oversee proceedings and also to outline this year’s Resolution regarding women and girls with ASD or ADHD.

We would welcome anyone who feels able to join us on committee to fill the gap left by our loss of Pam. Please join us for a social evening after the business and come along to see the bunting which some members have been designing and producing for the Federation.
