Groups

More details about all groups are in the Groups Supplement that was distributed with the September edition of the newsletter.
Extra copies are available on the Back Copies page.

Walking Group

There will be no organised car sharing and we will meet at the start point of each walk as specified by the walk leader. There will be no organised pub lunch after the walk, however where suitable there may be the option of a picnic lunch.

The walks are usually 4 to 6 miles long and it’s a good idea to bring a drink and energy snack on the walk.

The planned walks for October and November are:

Monday 4th October: Powburn, organised by Leigh and Neil 787115.
Thursday 21st October:
Warkworth and Amble circular, 5 miles, organised by Tracey 07528 014772.

Monday 1st November: Wansbeck Riverside Park to Cambois, 6.5 miles, organised by David 772225.

Longhorsley WI

At our September meeting we were delighted to present in person our Emily Wilding Davison Award jointly to Eve Massey and Mia Newcombe. As we were unable to give the Award out in 2020, it had been decided that they should share it for 2021. Both girls had been nominated for going above and beyond the call of duty in the community during the pandemic - Eve at work in the Village Shop and Mia at Todburn Stables.

It was a relief to be able to meet again in the Village Hall and the rest of the meeting was given over to catching up on business and with each other - meeting up with friends, old and new.

Our meeting on Thursday 7th October will again be in the Village Hall at 7.30 pm. Our speaker will be Carol Burnett (who introduced us to the Art & Craft Movement on our first Zoom meeting last July). This time we will meet Carol ‘for real’ when she gives us an insight into “Home, Sweet Home”: Norwegian style” - an introduction and personal account of the variety of building styles on Norway’s west coast.

Please join us if you are interested. All welcome.

The work on the poppies is coming along well but we need lots more – keep up the knitting, ladies!
