Longhorsley Local History Society
We are a vibrant and enthusiastic local history society where members can research all aspects of the village history. It has an extensive archive of old photographs and documents.
Our aim is to research, gather and increase our archive on all facets of our history and to make the information available, free to anyone with an interest in our village, its people and its history. The task is long and time consuming having amassed over 7000 separate documents, the ongoing task, is attempting to catalogue in a manner suitable for computer access. We are only a small group so progress is not as fast as we, and our friends, would like and for that we apologise most sincerely. We hope one day to have a comprehensive archive, simple to understand and accessible from around the world.
We have illustrated talks on a range of subjects at 19:30h in Longhorsley Village Hall, on the 2nd Tuesday of alternate months starting in September each year. We welcome new members and, if you are new to the village, what better way to learn all about where you live.
