Notice to visitors to this website:

You may have received, or seen, a "flyer" that contained the following sentence: "It (ie Manly Council) resolved (14 Feb 2011) to rezone all four above properties (ie 34, 36, 38 and 40 Stuart Street) (to a residential category in the new Draft Local Environmental Plan) in order to sell the properties it already owns at 34 and 36 Stuart Street to pay for curb and gutter repairs around Manly. Manly Council is concerned that this statement is misleading and we would like to clear up any misunderstanding.

Manly Council has asked us to point out that the resolution did not mention that 34 and 36 Stuart Street were to be sold. This is correct. The flyer was alluding to the reasoning behind the resolution. During the debate on the resolution it was mentioned that the sale of 34 and 36 Stuart Street would bring in money that could be used elsewhere in Manly. We see the rezoning of Council owned Open Space land to residential land to have no purpose other than to allow for its future sale.

Manly Council has also
asked us to point out that the resolution did not mention what the proceeds of any such sale would be used for. We unreservedly withdraw the statement that it may be solely used for curb and gutter repairs around Manly.
