is a Community Farm, located in the neighborhood of Soho (at the intersection of West Oakland, Uptown
and the Hill District), is dedicated to providing a free source of healthy
food to the community. We are committed to eliminating the barriers to accessing the resources necessary for sustainable longevity, first to those of us who are most marginalized and are
working from a permaculture base.. We are a neighborhood-centric project that focuses on education and mutual aid.
We try to hold weekly open meetings run on consensus and regular work days for friends and neighbors to come down and volunteer with collective members.
On the farm, we maintain an outdoor community meeting & event space/organic raised bed vegetable garden; a forest garden containing tens of fruit bearing trees and perennial shrubs alongside 20 volunteer built & maintained raised beds; & a raspberry patch, which produced PINTS of berries daily during the 2012 spring harvest! We plan to facilitate a fun and educational children's garden in coming seasons. In addition to the farming we do at LCF, we also support other garden projects in our neighborhood. Each opportunity to meet with other gardeners & urban farmers in our community & region is used as an exciting opportunity to grow our shared knowledge as well!.
