Spanish Family Camp

Sunday, August 20—Saturday, August 26, 2017

Camp Wabasso, Bradford, NH

The children's program is designed to introduce Spanish to beginners through play activities, and to enhance Spanish proficiency for native speakers and other children with significant Spanish skills. It is suitable for children from about 5—14 years old (see note on the teen program below.) Children with all levels of Spanish are welcome; we are always particularly interested in finding additional children who are not beginners, e.g. native speakers, Spanish at home, significant Spanish teaching in school, etc.

Teen & Middle School Program Last year we launched a separate track for rising 7th to 10th graders. They have their own teacher and more age appropriate activities. This will be a mixed group of varying Spanish ability. Let us know if you have a child who might be in this group.

The adult program divides participants into groups of beginning, intermediate and advanced speakers, and includes time each day for class work on grammar, conversation groups, and study.

The schedule includes instruction and study (for the children play!) from after breakfast until  2:15 PM. The remainder of the day is free for swimming and other activities in this beautiful area. Camp begins mid-afternoon Sunday, August 14 ands end mid-afternoon Saturday, August 20.

Camp is a cooperative effort among participating families. We all help with cooking, setting up, and cleaning after meals. We all shop on the way to camp and clean up on the last afternoon.
(It is important you plan to stay through till late Saturday afternoon as we rely on all the adults to clean the camp together.)

All-inclusive fees, early registration: For each family in private cabins are $475/first adult, $390/additional adult, $335/first child, $235/each additional child. There is a reduction of $50/person in shared cabins. After May 15th we may assess a surcharge of $50 per family. Most are private cabins; the numbers of both private and shared cabins are limited and we cannot guarantee you will receive your first choice. We don’t have a formal sliding scale, but we encourage those who can to pay more, and we try to offer reduced fees to families who cannot afford these rates. We also will work with large families to limit the family’s total expense on a case by case basis.

Enrollment is limited so sign up now! Preference will be given to families with Latin American connections or heritage — Latino families or those with Latin American roots, families with children adopted from Latin America, Spanish-speaking families, etc. Individual adults and other families are welcome as well. Enrollment may be limited to maintain a balance of Spanish levels, of ages in the children's program, or for other purposes, at the discretion of the organizers. Cancellations and refunds are subject to the policies on the “Administrative Information” page of the registration forms.

If you wish to attend or receive additional registration materials please contact the organizers via email to lacasa at mindspring dot com  replacing the "at" and "dot" with the usual punctuation.
